The origins of the company date back to 1929 when Car Repairs Pty Ltd was formed by NRMA Insurance Limited. The company traded under this name until 1979 when its name was changed to NRMA Smash Repairs. On February 2000, as a result of a management buy-out the company's name was changed to MediCar Smash Repairs. Having broadened the service base to include mechanical and recovery operations, MediCar Automotive operates three service centres employing around 50 staff. The three centres, located at Revesby, Campbelltown and St Marys, are equipped with:

  • Down draft spray booths,
  • Car-O-Liner electronic measuring and pulling systems
  • Inverter & bronze welders for repair of the latest lightweight structural materials
  • Dust extraction systems for Safety, security & cleanliness
  • Rainwater tanks deployed for car-washing at all sites
  • High capacity screw type air compressors plus backup units for fail-safe operations and zero downtime
  • Computerised estimating and job costing systems for speedy response & direct communication with all major insurance systems.
  • We have the capability for all sizes of conventional repairs, small damage using "smart" repair techniques and paintless dent repairs.
  • Late model "Tilt Tray" tow trucks.
  • Highly trained staff

Dennis Lyons PNA

Dennis is a member of the National Institute of Accountants and has completed a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration at the University of Western Sydney.He has been a long-standing Justice of the Peace. With extensive administration and accounting experience encompassing both public and commercial accounting, Dennis is responsible for the financial management and administrative functions of MEDICAR as well as the implementation and maintenance of quality management systems and compliance with statutory body requirements.

Paul Hegarty

Paul is responsible for our St Marys Centre. He has over twenty years experience in the smash repair industry in trades and management roles, Paul actually moved into a management role within three years of having completed his apprenticeship and has managed the successful St Mary's centre for over 15 years.

   


Richard Phillips

Dick has been a licensed Panel Beater since 1980, over 15 years in senior management roles. He has contributed strongly to the introduction of new repair techniques, products and equipment. Dick has overall responsibility for our Revesby Repair Centre.


Raymond Lauricella MIAME

Ray is responsible for the operation of our Campbelltown Centre. He has been a licensed painter tradesman since 1979 and panelbeater tradesman since 1987. Many years in management positions as well as his other smash repair industry experience have been major factors of Medicar success.
